  TAURUS – Fixed Sign

Dear Taurus, you are one determined sign, but when you decide it’s time to slow down, you could sit yourself down on a bench and watch the turtles go whizzing by. It’s no secret that you should not try to push or rush a bull. Food, home, mom and music are the Taurean fundamentals.  Ah, let’s not forget possessions! That is a subject that makes a Taurus mouth water. 

Taurus is my favourite sign of the zodiac! I know what I just said probably shocked many astrologers out there.  However, for me it’s true. Taurus is the rock you want to turn to in a real crisis. They are solid, sound, calming and practical souls.  Their determination to get the job done and never quit is unshakable. I won’t lie to you though, Taurus has an iron will, and all that it implies. They do things their way and in their time. Oh yes, they are generally polite and thoughtful bulls.  They are also great listeners.  They always listen and hear what you are saying and then they go right ahead with their original plan. Why? Because as a rule, Taurus doesn’t like to be obviously rude. 

Need a favour? Call on a Taurus, - just not too often. They rarely know how to say no and when they do, it’s enough to shock you for days. 

Taurus folks are often prone to suffering in silence. They don’t often like to let on that something is bothering them. If Taurus has taken you into their true confidence, consider yourself as highly regarded. Taurus is also known for telling others about the situation, but not directly telling the person they should.  You see the bottom line is, Taurus likes to be liked. 

Taurus prefers to have a sidekick. Someone to walk with, drive with, work with, laugh with, eat with, live with. You get the idea. It’s a rare bull indeed that doesn’t have at least one steady friend, male or female. When they go into business, they most often form partnerships. Here is the thing. Taurus does not like to spend long stretches of time on their own.

Holding back and holding things in until it’s unbearable is a natural habit for them. Taurus' motto is: to have and to hold.  So, if you plan to go into business with one, you’re best to state directly what is on your mind. Do not think that a Taurus is reading you intuitively. They also love to build things with their hands and take things apart to see how they work. They also like to call you ahead of time, eat supper on time, and head right back to work on time. Some Tauruses, not all, may be more married to their work then they are to you. It’s not that they aren’t family oriented, because they are. They just want to be certain the family will not have to want for any material pleasures. They are quite known for sending you on vacation while they remain at home working.  Don’t worry. They will call and check on you while you’re away, and a word of advice, you better be there when they call.  

However, on the other hand, their partner will want for very little. Except perhaps, more time with their spouse. Very few Tauruses live in common law relations. It’s wedding cowbells, engagements, or nothing.  A marriage can take a long time and so can their divorces. Taurus doesn’t like to rush, period.  However, if a Taurus decides they want the divorce, it could be done very quickly if they are pushed beyond their patience, and that’s a big push.

Being on time is a big deal to them. Never give them one time and then call, arrive, or follow up at another. Taurus themselves, however, work on Taurus time meaning, when they are darn good and ready!  They also adore affection. Oh, but it must be their way, and in their time. How they love to socialize and hear about what’s happening in the other fields of green.

Taurus has an earthy humour and they love to share jokes.  They will fax them, phone them, email them, or simply tell them.  Now, on the not so funny side… many Tauruses fight the battle of the bathroom scales. They also, believe it or not, are very sensitive to harsh and hurtful words or actions.  Taurus is not the type of personality who goes hunting for trouble! They like to be accepted. They also like to only give half of a story until they think you are someone they can trust.

If and when at all possible, they prefer to work for themselves. Most Tauruses have to own things as opposed to renting them! Ownership is a huge deal! Imagine then, how awful it is for them to lose anything, or anyone. Don’t go flattering yourself either. Taurus is the only one who can change their mind, or anything else, so, if you want things to go smoothly you better hug them, not mug them with your ideas.

Did I mention that they love the kitchen, barbecues, restaurants, picnics, or buffet dinners? Believe it or not, they really do enjoy going grocery shopping. Personally, I think shopping with a Taurus is a blast. They can make a trip down aisle number four feel like a day off. They have a great balance between fun and serious. Have you ever watched a Taurus in the grocery store? They pick things up, turn them over and over, weigh things out in their hand and then they drop it into their basket.

Speaking of dropping things, forgetting their own strength is also part of their nature.  So, if you need first aid and see a Taurus dropping what they are doing to come to your rescue, be ready to remind them to go easy. Their CPR could crack your ribs on the first chest compression. Then again, if you need CPR, you’re already dead at that point and you wouldn’t have seen them coming anyway.     

In case you didn’t know, Taurus loves to touch and even more so, to be touched. Go ahead, touch their heart, mind or their body, especially the neck area and you’ll find that they will rarely complain. Make no mistake, Taurus is a gentle and straightforward lover. They believe in a time and place for everything. It’s generally well thought out though. Remember please, the Taurus way, and in Taurus time!

When a Taurus is down and blue, do not try to charm them out of their mood. It’s like trying to talk to a Cancer when they get like this. Stay out of their pasture until they throw the gate open again. Taurus, like Cancer, will withdraw when they are trying to come to terms with hurt, pain, disappointment or even just their own thinking. Please note the do not disturb sign when this happens. Do not attempt to enter that pasture with them at that time, you will be setting yourself up for a moment you won’t soon forget. 

Taurus also rules the vocal chords. Many Tauruses are singers, musicians, or producers.  Many are found on stage, and a big part of the musical audiences of the world, which also explains their lifetime of sore throats or losing their voice. Quality sound is also very important to them, as hearing is one of their delicate areas as well. It is not uncommon to find Tauruses who are deaf or who have perfect pitch. The same goes for the eyes as well. Actually, from the shoulder area on up.  Which explains their keen sense of smell as well. They are also among the many great songwriters and the poets of the world. 

Preferably, Taurus likes to hang out with someone else.  Especially, other earth signs. Truth is, it’s just plain easy and comfortable. It keeps life simple and Taurus loves simplicity.  However, too much earth can stunt their growth. The Taurus mind and action can be prone and susceptible to stagnation.  A water sign like Cancer will bring constant new growth. For some reason, a Taurus will often first fall for Air or Fire signs as well. Many will leave the water signs until the last. Now, what grows more things on this planet, than earth and water? All the same, once Taurus figures out which signs don’t work out, they will eventually figure out which do and then add them to their diet.

Now I know what you’re thinking: earth and earth, water and water, fire and fire, air and air. True, they do blend the easiest in most cases, but too much of any one ingredient can spoil the flavour of anything can’t it? Capricorn can lack the emotional support needed to fulfill and complete the tender Taurus. Virgo can overanalyze poor Taurus to death and another Taurus will positively make or break them. In all fairness to everyone, it really is important to take into consideration the birth charts of both people involved. Bottom line in any scenario is, true love will be the deciding factor, no matter what sign ends up with another.

Taurus will generally manage best with a set daily routine.  They tend to be more flexible with their evening activities.  Mostly what they despise is sudden and unexpected change.  When confronted though, they stand their ground or start to charge, but rarely, if ever, will you see one back off. Unless of course, it’s to paw the ground as they prepare to charge. 

Stability in finances and emotions mean a great deal to them.  Home is a castle to a Taurus! Similar to Cancer, but Taurus's will generally be grander in size and if it’s not large it will appear to be so. Taurus prefers to make their home a showpiece. Cancers are highly rated in the area of home as well, however, theirs will be filled with emotional wealth more so than things.

This is the side of any sign that I refer to as our evil twin! The characteristics of our dark side, that need to be worked on throughout our lives. *WARNING, these are never easy to read!
